On the 18th of April, students, staff, and faculty came together to commemorate Ancilla Day
alongside the conclusion of the second term of the 2023/24 academic year. Originally slated
earlier in the year, the celebration was rescheduled out of respect for the Lenten season, adding
an extra layer of anticipation to the awaited event.
The day kicked off with an enlightening presentation led by Assistant Headmistress; Sr. Paula
Bangliebo, guiding attendees through the storied history of Ancilla School. With heartfelt
reverence, Sr. Paula recounted the founding principles laid by the early Sisters of the
Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ), underscoring the school’s profound dedication to
education and community.
Following the captivating narrative, the atmosphere transformed into a whirlwind of
excitement as the Dance Club took the stage. Their choreography performance and infectious
energy, set a spirited tone for the day’s celebration.
The Ancilla Drama Club then captivated the audience with a mesmerizing showcase of talent
and creativity. Guided by enthusiastic MCs and insightful judges, the club’s members
showcased their diverse skills through rap performances, enthralling dance routines, and
poignant poetry recitals. The talent scouting segment added an element of thrill and
anticipation, further engaging attendees and highlighting the depth of talent within the school
community.
Amidst the revelry, attention turned to the crowning of the “Face of Ancilla,” with the Best
Dressed students embodying the essence and values of the school. The Assistant Head; Sr.
Paula personally congratulated and took pictures with them, underscoring their role as
ambassadors of Ancilla School’s ethos and spirit.
The day culminated in a heartfelt closing assembly, where Sr. Paula imparted words of wisdom
and encouragement to all. Emphasizing the importance of self-care during the upcoming
vacation, she reminded everyone of their imminent return on May 7th, 2024, ensuring a
seamless transition into the next academic term.
As the echoes of laughter and applause subsided, the memories of Ancilla Day and the end of
term lingered on, a testament to the unity, talent, and spirit that define Ancilla School. With
hearts full and spirits uplifted, students and staff departed, carrying with them the cherished
moments and camaraderie forged on this momentous day.
